You can't do it all and do it all well.
At least that's the mantra I try to live by. I repeat it often throughout the day. Multi-tasking doesn't exist. All it means is that you are simultaniously giving several tasks your limited attention.
Don't get me wrong, I used to believe I could do it all and do it all right. I thought multi=tasking was the best way to complete a task list. Boy, was I way W R O N G.Read More
Over the years marketing has become a contest, may the brightest and boldest survive. The rest get flushed. And worse yet, people will pay big money to let the big dogs market with the most amazing content you have ever seen while those maybe just starting out get looked over because they just don't have the flash and glitter.
Todays world of small business has been taken by storm and people will do just about anything to pick up the next gig.
When I fist started my design business, I marketed with blog posts, social media (linking to my site) and, most importantly, word of mouth. Word of mouth marketing brought me in over 10 clients in my first 6 months of business. I did good work, i worked cheaper than most and I knew what the hell I was doing. These things made my services more valuable than those with the flashy online billboards.
When I first started my business it was all about design. I wanted to design pretty websites for creative minded owners. And that I did. As I grew my own small business I had to read and research, market and design for myself. My day had become 90% working on my business and I was barely working for my clients. That's when I decided to switch tactics and become a business coach as well. This way I could teach others everything I had learned about growing my company.
People started wanting my coaching services more and my design services next. When I inquired with one client about why she wasn't interested in design, she stated she was switching to Squarespace (yay for you!) and using the templated services with custom imagery. My mind was blown. That's what I had done myself. Suddenly, everyone was a designer.Read More
The short version is that Interact provides you with a quiz to post on your site and everyone who takes the quiz is generated to an email list of your choice.
The long version is that Interact offers both premade and completely customizable quizes to attach to your website via an HTML code. When readers pop over to the page you have specified (I chose to make it the first things readers see), they will be able to take whatever quiz you have designed. With Interact, you can literally design a quiz about absolutely anything because you can completely customize the questions. So whether it's how well they know how to knit or how much they love Johnny Depp, the quiz possibilities are endless!Read More
Even during the summer, my morning routine is one of the most important parts of my day. It sets the time for the rest of the day, and often, the whole weeks mood can be determined by a successful Monday morning routine.
Ideally, I could wake up, grab my coffee and begin my work day. Before I can eat my frogs, I first have to set up for success. So here's the skinny on how I get the weekday balls rolling.Read More
As a writer and creative, one of the things I love to do most is make lists. I make them for everything. Since I am such a serious listmaker, I thought today that we would cut the crap (aka the business and selfcare talk) and I would share a list of... L I S T S! Are you ready to see some of my favorites? Let's do it!Read More

Still, considering all the problems I recently faced, this task feels pretty light.
So what do I need to be focused on?Read More
If you take a look at history and those who are listed as "The Greatest" you'll find a long, torrid, history of madness, insanity and substance abuse. Have you ever really paused to think about why that is? Recently I was given that exact opportunity as I was faced with my own brain health issues. Here's what I discovered:Read More

It's a pretty common myth that I have seen floating around in the few Facebook groups I participate in that you can't get quality SEO on Squarespace. It's also one of those things I used to see posted here and there and jump on to correct the OP. Then I gave up my quest to educate everyone who shared this myth. Why? Because it wasn't worth the energy I was expending. It just isn't possible for me to show everyone in a FB group just how Squarespace SEO really does work.
I also realized that part of the problem with convincing these people that you can get results using the built in SEO Squarespace provides (and that you can easily hack for even better results) is that they want something neat and easy, packaged and perfect. In short, they just don't want to put in the work to get the results.
So today I thought I would take a minute to show you the wonderous glory that is Squarespace SEO and show you how easy it actually is to achieve the same results as if you were using the popular Wordpress plugins.Read More
For you longtime followers (and a huge thank you if that's you!), you may remember that a few years back I posted back when I was still using Blogger all about how I used Evernote as an editorial calendar (as well as to manage my entire life!). Well, y'all, since that post went live so long ago, I have updated the way I do things and thought I would take some time today to show you the new system I am using.
For those of you who may not know, Evernote is, essentially, a note taking system. At least, that's the simple explanation of Evernote. In reality, Evernote is so. much. more! You see, Evernote is basically my brain. I have folders for pretty well off everything I could possibly need in my life. Although I do not use Evernote as a planning system, it is still where my life is stored.Read More
Living in mindfulness and intention is something I definitely need to work on and so I have created routines and rituals to help me out a little. In order to stop being so obsessive about work, I make notes in my planner and have asked members of my family, and even friends, to hold me accountable. It hasn't been easy but I feel like I am making progress, which in turn makes me feel as though I am creating an environment that my 5 year old daughter can learn from.Read More
Hello my lovelies!
Recently I caught myself pondering over my goals and planning them out. Mainly I was thinking about how I would go about keeping my notes each day and how I would keep my goal plans in a daily planning system. As I am sure you all know by now, I use a Plum Paper Planner to organize my week and I was struggling with how to keep a task list specific to meeting my goals, staying focused and still having my hourly schedule laid out in the same page.
After researching to no avail and continuously coming up empty handed when searching Instagram for some kind of inspiration I finally realized that I would have to create something myself if I wanted to have something perfect.Read More
